GM Expanding the Safety of Brakes for Their Future Cars
It has been seen that after the Toyota’s problem of accelerator and brakes have made the other auto-makers concentrate on the safety of their vehicles. General Motors has recently announced that they are expanding the brakes over-ride safety features in their cars through the end of 2012. This Monday the company announced that they’ll add new software in their cars which is also called “enhanced smart-pedal technology” which will be brought for all those models that are coming with automatic transmission and the electric throttle.
It has been reported that this change will reduce the power to engine as both the throttle and brakes will be pressed at the same time and all this action has been announced to gain more customer’s trust on the company. Tom Stephens, Product vice chairman while discussing about this new plan said that “We know safety is top of mind for consumers, so we are applying additional technology to reassure them that they can count on the brakes in their GM vehicle”. As stated above, this all action has been taken as a lesson from Toyota who is now facing a huge security crisis and up till it has recalled 8.5 million vehicles. No matter what is the reason behind this announcement, the customers should have to happy because their benefits are increasing from such plans.
